Wow, TMZ is so crafty and pathetic that Harvey “I’m a Lawyer” Levin, who runs the website checks sources like the IRS about the rich and the famous so he can print gossip about them when they are at fault.
Recently Harvey’s rag website, TMZ posted “notice of federal tax lien” filed in May with the Los Angeles County Recorder’s Office against Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The document showed that the Governor owes $39,047 in taxes, fines or penalties from 2004 and $40,016 from 2005.
Instead of Harvey doing the “right” thing and getting in touch with the Governor’s office, he had to post the lien on his rag-site. That caused more than 34 thousand google hits of the tax lien that not even the Governor had been notified about. Thank goodness we have TMZ!
Well, the rep for the Governor, Aaron McLear, contacted the IRS Friday and determined there was a “paperwork tracking discrepancy.”
“The governor had not been notified of any discrepancy or of the lien until today,” McLear said in a statement. “The governor is resubmitting certain information to the IRS and we fully expect that the matter will be resolved and the lien expunged without any penalty assessed upon the governor.”
He said the issue is “completely unrelated to the payment of taxes, which the governor has paid in full and on time.”
