David Letterman and his alleged Extortionist, CBS News producer Robert “Joe” Halderman face off via attorneys.
Seems that Halderman’s attorney Gerald Shargel is claiming the defense of trying to negotiate a business deal when he left a package and note with David’s driver asking for $2 million.
David’s attorney Daniel Horwitz answer was logical, in that Halderman hadn’t simply offered up a business deal in that early morning meeting, but threatened Letterman’s personal and professional life.
“When you look at the totality of the circumstances, this adds up to a functional gun to somebody’s head, saying ‘Pay me or else,’” Horwitz said. “You can dress this up however you want, but, like I said earlier, this is classic blackmail.”
Watch the video below, tell me if it looks like Halderman has become creative with his defense.
