Disney’s “A Christmas Carol” is starting the the holiday season off with a $31 million box office, according to early estimates.
The movie cost $175 million to make and utilized performance-capture technology that allowed Jim Carrey
to play multiple roles represented the best opening in director Robert Zemeckis’ career.

‘Carol’ still has a few weeks to bring in it’s full expected bank while playing on almost all 200 IMAX 3d screens until “Avatar” opens on December 18.
