Michael Jackson’s personal physician, Conrad Murray was formally charged today, January 8, 2010, with involuntary manslaughter. The charge was based on Murray providing Michale Jackson with a powerful anesthetic, propofol, that was ruled to be the major factor in his death on June 25, 2009.
Murray pleaded not guilty, which was expected. TMZ has added an interesting exclusive to the days events. It seems that the Medical Board of California wanted the judge to immediately stop Dr. Murray from practicing medicine as a condition to bail.
I do not know if this request is normal considering the charges against Dr. Murray. The motion filed by the Medical Board to appear in the case, were extremely damaging and strong, Medical Board stated that Murray showed, “utter disregard for the care and well-being of the persons entrusted to his care” — namely, Michael Jackson.
The Board filed papers requesting the judge to step in and take Murray’s license immediately. The judge would only go as far as ordering Dr. Murray not to administer anesthetics, including Propofol.
