During a concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 61, fell whille trying to keep the crowd entertained during a break due to technical difficulties with sound system.
The music came to an abrumpt stop during “Love In an Elevator”, and Tyler was on the stage’s catwalk, he was 8 eight feet above the stage when he fell backward onto a couple of fans.
The stadium was packed, the security guards had to make there way through to help him.
He was concious when he left the crowd at 12:15 a.m. and was taken backstage, and the crowd started cheering when they saw him back on his feet.
Tyler was airlifted by helicopter to Rapid City Regional Hospital, and reports were released that Steven had head, neck and a shoulder injuries, but the severity was still unclear.
Aerosmith’s guitarist Joe Perry came out to tell the audience Tyler was being taken to the hospital and that the show would not go on.
The show was only halfway through. Word is that while Steven was doing his signiture dance with his mike stand he must have misjudged the distance to the back of the platform and misstepped.
Tyler attended Sturgis last year to promote his Dirico Motorcycles line and was back this year to do that again and play at the Buffalo Chip.
